Michael Pallin (Vocals) gathered his experiences as an young singer on stage and in rehearsal rooms with different bands. Funk, rock, pop and folk were musical directions he worked with till he joined the berlin electro pop band NewVember in 1999.

Olaf Kujat (Instruments) began at the age of 15 to experiment with guitar and effect sounds. In the mid nineties he’d build a home studio and started to work exclusively with electronic music. To try out different musical styles he founded a couple of solo projects, of what especially Microscape could make a small name.

How we became The Talking Stone ?

In the years 1999/2000 both bands have played a couple of live gigs together. Pallin overtook most of the singing parts on Microscape songs. Then the idea was born, to re-record some songs together.

2004 was a good point in time to begin the whole thing. Though there were a lot of new song ideas, which came more to the fore. For Pallin and Kujat it was very attractive to work more differently as in the case of NewVember and Microscape.

Shortly after that, Pallin and Kujat decided to name their band 'THE TALKING STONE'. A lot of songs were created and permanently developed, which could be fitted in to a concept-like, but contrasty scheme. That was reason enough to make an album. All those songs seems like stages or scenes of a journey full of great experiences.

What kind of music does The Talking Stone do ?

More or less it could be described as electro pop. All songs are sequencer based. Variety and authenticity also belong to our music. We love to play with many other styles, using acoustic or exotic instruments. Occassionally we’re working with guest musicians. We like to experiment. We have no limits, but a feeling what sounds.
